A short, wondrous life that has changed us all.
Joseph Phoenix Crockett was born at 10:05 AM on February 13, 2011. He was not breathing when he was born because his arm had pinched off his umblical cord as he descended. The hospital re-started his heart but he was already gone, as later tests showed no brain activity. On February 14, 2011 he was taken off life support. He breathed on his own for several hours during which we held him and kissed him and took him out in the Oregon rain and loved him, loved him, loved him. Joseph Phoenix stopped breathing around 6:30 PM. I am transformed by being a part of his brief, beautiful life. My heart has been opened more than I ever knew possible.
Questions to consider:
- Was there monitoring during labor?
- What was the gestational age?
- Was the midwife in photos present for birth as it appears?
